To adapt to all your leave submission rules and constraints, Eurécia offers three methods to deduct absences from leave balances:
- Balance impacted upon submission for approval (except for JNT)
- Balance impacted upon submission for approval (JNT included)
- Balance impacted upon approval of the request
We explain everything in detail 😊!
In this article:
-
Impact possibilities
- Option 1 - Leave submitted for approval must immediately impact the leave balance (excluding JNT) (default operation)
- Option 2 - Leave submitted for approval must immediately impact the leave balance (JNT included)
- Option 3 - Leave submitted for approval must only impact the leave balance once the request is approved
- Configure the impact in Eurécia
- Impact on requests already submitted
Impact possibilities
Option 1 - Leave submitted for approval must immediately impact the leave balance (excluding JNT) (default operation)
With this operation, as soon as the leave request is submitted for approval, balances are impacted. The same leave entitlement cannot therefore be the subject of multiple requests. Warning: in this scenario, JNT can be submitted multiple times.
This option allows employees to submit only the entitlements they have actually accrued.
This same operation applies to entitlement transfer requests to a leave balance (e.g.: to a Compte Épargne Temps).
As soon as the request is made, entitlements are 'blocked' and can no longer be submitted for another date.
Example: an employee has a balance of 25 days including 5 JNT on their Paid leave 2026 balance; they can then submit absence requests on this balance up to a total limit of these 20 working days. The 5 JNT can be submitted for multiple absences and will only actually be deducted upon approval of the absence.
If the employee wishes to submit requests when they no longer have sufficient entitlements, the software will warn them with a message on the interface.
Option 2 - Leave submitted for approval must immediately impact the leave balance (JNT included)
This operation is useful if your employees submit all their leave at the start of the year but it is approved as it comes.
With this operation, as soon as the leave request is submitted for approval, balances are impacted. The same leave entitlement, including JNT, cannot therefore be the subject of multiple requests.
This option allows employees to submit only the entitlements they have actually accrued.
As long as they are allowed to submit a request, it means it can be accepted by a manager, because the entitlements will necessarily be sufficient.

Option 3 - Leave submitted for approval must only impact the leave balance once the request is approved
With this setting, the same leave entitlement can be the subject of multiple absence requests.
The first approved request will impact the balances. Other requests can then no longer be approved if entitlements on the relevant balances are not sufficient. These requests must then be declined or canceled.
This option allows employees to submit several leave proposals (e.g.: for summer leave) and leave the manager free to approve the one that best suits the team's organization.
While this option has advantages, employees can nevertheless submit numerous requests without realizing that they cannot all be approved due to insufficient entitlements.
Example: an employee has a balance of 10 days on their Paid leave 2026 balance; they can then submit several absence requests of 10 days. Once one of the requests is approved, the balance will be exhausted and other requests must then be declined or assigned to other absence types.
The software will warn the manager that absences cannot be approved via a message on the interface at the time of approval.

Impact on requests already submitted
Any modification has no impact on requests already submitted. If the leave balance allows it, requests can be approved by managers.
If the balance is exhausted, a message such as 'Les compteurs ont bougé depuis la soumission à validation' will appear to the manager wishing to approve the request.
Note: the system only allows taking days accrued as of the leave date. To do this, it takes into account remaining entitlements as of today, remaining entitlements to be accrued, and leave already approved that will take place in the future.
